Lot 5486
Crispus, Caesar, 316-326. Follis (Bronze, 19 mm, 2.26 g, 6 h), Antiochia, July 325 (?). Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Crispus to left. Rev. CRISPVS / CAESAR / SMANTЄ in three lines; above, star. RIC 53. Very fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

For most dynastic bronze emissions from Antioch, Bruun misread many of the officina letters. In fact, it were officinae B and Є that struck for Crispus, the same two officinae that struck for his father. There are presently 20 examples known from officina B versus 55 for officina Є, with no other officinae represented.
